Creating & Managing Wells
Create new wells, edit well properties, and manage your well inventory in PetroBench. Organize wells by field and configure well metadata.
Create a Well
- Go to Wells
- Click New Well
- Fill in the Basic and Location tabs
- Click Add Well
Only the well name is required. Add other data as it becomes available.
Basic Tab

Location Tab

Filter Wells
Click the Filter button in the toolbar to narrow down the wells table by specific criteria.
Select a filter category to see its available values:

| Well Type | Oil or Gas |
| Wellbore Profile | Vertical, Horizontal, Deviated |
| Pumping Unit Class | Filter by unit classification |
| Assigned To | Team member assigned to the well |
| Foreman | Filter by foreman |
| Lease Name | Group by lease |
| Field Name | Group by field |
| Created Date | Filter by when the well was added |
| Tags | Custom tags applied to wells |
| Group | Organization group |
| Last Modified | Filter by recent changes |
Click Clear Filters at the bottom to remove all active filters.
Combine multiple filters to quickly find specific wells: filter by Well Type: Oil and Status: Active.
Favorites
The Favorites tab gives you quick access to wells you work with frequently.
- Add a favorite: select one or more wells using the checkboxes, then click Add to favorites in the toolbar
- View favorites: click the Favorites tab to see only your starred wells
- Remove a favorite: select the well and click the remove option
Customize Columns
Click the Columns button in the toolbar to control which columns appear in the wells table.
- Show/hide columns: toggle the checkbox next to any column name
- Reorder columns: drag a column using the grip handle to change its left-to-right position in the table
- Reset to defaults: click Reset to defaults at the bottom to restore the original layout
Your column preferences are saved to your account and persist across devices.
Delete a Well
Deleting a well permanently removes all associated data including simulations, production data, and surveys. This cannot be undone.
- Click ... on the well row (or open Well Details)
- Select Delete Well
- Type the well name to confirm
- Click Delete Permanently

Tagging & Groups
Organize wells with color-coded tags and user groups in PetroBench. Create tags, assign them in bulk, merge duplicates, and use groups to manage team access.
